Helpful Information
Over the years we have learned many helpful tips that make Elder Care easier for the Caregiver and Senior as well.  As they come up, I will add them here:

1.  Deodorant under the breasts keeps yeast away.
2.  Smell from strong urine on skin, after washing area, put a little shaving cream on washcloth and rewash area.
3.  We use weightlifter's power drinks with lots of milk and ice cream (calories) instead of Ensure. 
4.  The best moisture barrier cream to use is Balmex Diaper Rash Cream it's cheap too! 
5.  Best recipe for moving the bowels naturally:
                        

      Peel, core and dice 3 apples (any kind)

        Chop 1 cup of prunes

        Chop 1 cup of apricots

        Put in a saucepan with about ¾ cup of water

        Simmer till soft

        Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired

        Serve warm or cold or with ice cream
6.  If you are working with a Home Health Agency, I say, "take 'em when you can get 'em".  It's nice to have the help but they really can't give you a special time to come and service you.  Be glad they are there to help.

As you can see at the bottom of our website we are very active in Alzheimers Research and finding a cure.  Over the years we have suffered along with many families as they helplessly watch their Mom or Dad lose their memory and faculties.  Some facts about this horrible disease:

1.  As many as 5.3 million people in the United States are living with Alzheimer’s.
2.  Alzheimer's and dementia triple healthcare costs for Americans age 65 and older.
3.  Every 70 seconds, someone develops Alzheimer’s.
4.  Alzheimer's is the seventh-leading cause of death.
5.  The direct and indirect costs of Alzheimer's and other dementias to Medicare, Medicaid and businesses amount to more than $148 billion each year.
